Q:Do you know any ways I can keep up on my strengths (legs, downs, etc, etc) while pregnant? I want to return to derby after the due date but I am afraid I will loose all I have go already. Any suggestions?

According to americanpregnancy.org the safest exercise for pregnant women is swimming. This is a great way to safely enjoy cardiovascular exercise and resistance for strength. Here is a site that has some easy fun pool workouts that might be helpful: http://www.fitsugar.com/Easy-Pool-Workouts-Beginners-18455614

If you’re already active (and doing derby qualifies), you’ll be suprised how active you can be while pregnant and how quickly it comes back. Walk, walk, walk, and keep up with any strength-training programs you’re doing. If you lift free weights, it’s probably better to switch to machines for stability as you get bigger. After you have baby in hand, wait the full six weeks to get back on skates; your ligaments need time to firm up. And listen to your OB. You’ll be a bad-mutha mother in no time.
